Amir Abdi

I’m a Senior Principal Applied Scientist at Microsoft in Vancouver, where I build multimodal Agents for M365 and lead them end to end, from ideation through model fine-tuning to shipping. Before M365, I led the design, science and engineering of Security Copilot, including its agentic behavior.

My 13 years of ML/AI research span Large Language Models, Computer Vision, Representation Learning, Time Series, Reinforcement Learning, and generative models. Before Microsoft, I led a research team at Borealis AI. I hold a PhD in Machine Learning from UBC, where I was a Vanier Scholar of Canada, and I’m a former Dental Surgeon (no kidding). I enjoy building/hacking no matter what.
